As parents, we work hard to raise happy and successful children. However, there is no handbook to tell us how this can be achieved. There never was. Over ages society came up with different tools that can help us to achieve the goal of raising accomplished adults. In our opinion books are the perfect examples of these tools. Not surprisingly, the earlier we expose our children to reading the better off they will be in the long run.
At Little fun Club we are always on the look out to find new resources and better books that teach creativity, patience and help our subscribers to embark on a journey. We are also constantly looking for techniques and validations of our mission and beliefs. Here is a video from TED Talks by Joachim de Posada about the importance of delayed gratification. The underlying idea of this study is that children who understand and are okay with delayed gratification are more likely to grow up into more positive lifestyles. Being accustomed to delayed gratification develops into an understanding that it requires time and effort to accomplish what you want. Taking short cuts and procrastination are bad habits that you should try to make your child avoid.
Reading is a calming and high skill level activity that will bring to life the benefits of patience and stoicism so that your child may understand and appreciate the idea of delayed gratification. Not only will reading promote higher learning and creativity but it will help your child to prefer delayed gratification. Reading epitomizes the joys that can come about by working hard and taking your time. Your child will learn and become accustomed to the triumph and great pleasure that comes with finally finishing a good book. And we would be happy to send new books your way!
